It’s coming along nicely, thanks…

If you join the mailing list, you get to hear my bookish babbling on the weekly… and sometimes non-bookish babbles. Checking the notes page on the website for news is like wandering the desert in search of shade: it’s out there… but not easy to find.

Anyway… not the point.

The point is that I know I’ve been a quiet little author in 2026. 

Normally, I’m writing new books and publishing them at a pretty impressive rate. (It’s not that impressive. I write really short books.) And the 2026 schedule wasn’t planned to be any different.

I started a new series back in December 2025, taking the Moonshine Ridge universe in a romantic suspense direction with the Rogue Ops team. I got book 1 released, and then released a series adjacent book that was part of a multi-author collaboration, and then… 

Life. 

That bitch.

And– this time– I use the term in that “but we’re really besties” context. Mostly.

I had some Big Things to wrap up in the personal life and ended up getting myself a permanent campsite where I can hunker down when I need a place to do that. Then, I pretty much immediately moved on, heading back to the home base where I set about tearing my little hobo house trailer apart and starting a rebuild project that proved to be far more work than I’d expected. (Of course.)

That project still isn’t finished, but it’s “finished enough” that I was able to keep my promise to Colorado Friend and come set up camp in her driveway until she either gets sick of me or it starts snowing. 

Baby camper isn’t really built for harsh winters. Plus, I have a southwest desert campsite to sit those out on now.

But now that I’m sitting still and not spending my days covered in sawdust and sweat, it’s time to get my attention back on the writing. 

Spoiler alert: It’s not going well.

I finally had to concede that this new series is not going to fit into the short novella format I’ve been writing in for the last few years. This whole mystery/suspense subplot experiment is proving to be challenging for me. I traditionally like to keep the books lighthearted and dirty and work through any conflicts lickety split. Real life has enough drama to keep me stressed out– I don’t look for it in my fiction too. 

I’m also playing “responsible adult author” catch up on a ton of behind the scenes tasks that I’ve never bothered with till now. (Can’t I just write the books?) 

So this is the year that I’ve started pulling older series out of the Kindle Unlimited program to offer them on other retailers. 

I started my own direct sales channel– highly recommend buying books direct from the author whenever possible! 

As you can see from the accompanying photo for this post, I’m working on getting books available in print too! Typos and all, folks, the paperbacks are coming!

Audiobooks are on the to-do list but… well. They are on the to-do list. 

Getting my marketing efforts in line is also on the to-do list. If you follow my social media, you might have noticed that I’m good about posting for about a week, maybe two, and then I wander off like a distracted toddler. (Story of my life.)

But I thought it was probably time to come over here and update the notes page with some updates. The “coming soon” stuff on the front page hasn’t changed much all year and I started worrying that people might think I’d fallen off the edge of the earth or otherwise found something more interesting to do than finish the series I only just started.

Nope. Still writing. Just had to handle those time-consuming Life Things first (I do not multi-task well…at all.) 

Since I didn’t stick to my publishing schedule for 2026, all the projects I had planned are now shoved into one, haphazard pile, demanding to all be finished at once. LOL– not happening! So, I can’t even begin to predict the timeline from this point. 

But the Rogue Ops series is getting finished. I have a holiday project (are you a fan of the Match-Maker series?) that has to jump to the front of then line, and then I’m heading back to Slow River Valley to finish the other ranches planned in that series.

All while juggling the paperbacks and getting books on other retailers, and keeping up with social media and trying to keep the website updated.

And I still need to finish the projects I put on pause in the trailer.
